All visitors to Australia (except New Zealand passport holders) must obtain a visa, a transit visa or ETA before they enter Australia (including travel to Norfolk Islands).
An Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) provides authorisation to enter Australia and is electronically linked to your passport. The Australian Department of Home Affairs advises that eligible passengers should apply for an ETA two weeks before intended travel.

There are some countries whose citizens do not have to apply for a visa before travelling to New Zealand as a transit passenger. For further information please see the transit visa country/region waiver list at Immigration New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND ETA APPLICATION FORM Please note, for passports where a visa is required for transit, outbound and return rules may differ. For passports where the Visa Waiver (ETA) cannot be issued, India for example (but not limited to) travellers from the US or Canada will be allowed to transit via New Zealand to Australia on the outbound flights, but not on the return flights. NEW ZEALAND ETA ELIGIBILITY New Zealand citizens are required to apply for a Canada eTA visa to enter Canada on a short term basis (under 90 days) for general tourism, business, transit or medical purposes. The eTA program was introduced in 2016 to screen travelers arriving from overseas as a response to the global increase in terrorist activities.

The Canada eTa program was approved in 2012, and took 4 years to develop the required systems that would tie in with existing immigration databases and other security data to provide a seamless new screening tool.

Citizens from New Zealand along with other European Union members are required to complete this electronic visa application prior to boarding an aircraft for Canada, and this includes travelers who will only be transiting in Canada en route to other international destinations.

It is advised that New Zealand citizens complete their eTA application 72 hours prior to their departure date. Full details can be found by visiting eTA requirements or Canada eTA FAQ's. It is advised to review these pages prior to starting an eTA application to avoid any delays or the risk of an eTA being refused.


NEW ZEALAND VISA
It is a requirement to be a full New Zealand citizen before applying for a Canada eTA, so travelers holding a passport or travel document with a different status, such as refugee, will be required to apply for a full Canada visitor visa, and not an eTA.

New Zealand citizens can expect their eTA application to normally be processed and approved within 5 minutes, and the authorization is sent by email in the form of a PDF document. There is no need to print or present any documents at the airport, as the eTA is stored electronically against the passport in the Canada Immigration system.

You may be travelling to New Zealand, or transiting, from a country that requires a visa or a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority.
The Government has also introduced a managed isolation and quarantine process.

For a nation so tied to nature, natural beauty and conservation, millions of travellers take their toll. In an effort to make tourists directly contribute to replenishing the resources they drain, the country has officially launched a new ETA form you’ll need to fill out and pay for before hopping on a plane, for all travel after October 1st, 2019. It’s basically like a visa, but people get mad if you say visa.


If you’re traveling to New Zealand any time after October 1st, 2019, you’re going to need either an actual visa, or an ETA if you’re from a “visa waiver country”. Basically, if you needed a visa before this date, you still need one.

new zealand tourist visa If you didn’t, and could simply hop on a plane, like citizens from the USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Germany and numerous other countries you’ll now need to fill out the ETA before you do and pay for it too. If you don’t, you won’t be able to board the plane.

Much like the ESTA in the USA, or the new European equivalent, these “visas” in everything but name require up to 72 hours of processing. If you were landing on the 1st of October, you’d want to apply before the 28th of September, just to be safe.

Most ETA’s should be approved within hours, but you won’t be able to board a plane before you have an approval. It’s also worth noting that even if you do have an ETA, you must be able to show a ticket not only arriving, but also departing New Zealand.

Visitors must also pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy of NZ$35, which is payable in the same transaction as the NZeTA.

Singaporeans can visit New Zealand (for holiday and sightseeing, visit family and friends etc.) for up to 90 days without a visa. Passports must be valid for at least three months after your planned departure from New Zealand and have a NZeTA. As visa requirements often change at short notice, we advise you to contact your travel agency, or the High Commission of New Zealand in Singapore, or visit the New Zealand Immigration website, for up-to-date information.

New Zealand’s immigration rules are strict, particularly regarding employment.  Anyone wishing to work will need a visa allowing employment, including wedding photographers on ad hoc work assignments in New Zealand.

Quarantine and bio security: New Zealand has very strict bio-security regulations, and instant fines are issued for failing to declare items for quarantine on arrival.  It is illegal to import most foodstuffs (meat and meat products, honey, fruit, dairy produce) and strict penalties are handed out to those breaking these rules.  If in doubt, declare items to a Ministry of Primary Industries official or dump them in one of the bins available at the airport.

Medication: There are some restrictions on bringing medication into New Zealand. Visit the New Zealand Customs website for more information.  If you arrive in New Zealand with any prescription medicines, you must declare it on your passenger arrival card.

The government of New Zealand has introduced since July 2019 a tourist tax called the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) that has a fee of NZD 35 or about USD 24.

In addition, it launched a requirement that will be mandatory from October to enter New Zealand with the Electronic Travel Authority (eTA). This special permit can be requested online and is mandatory for the 60 countries that do not need a visa to travel to New Zealand.

– The travel authorization to New Zealand has a maximum validity of 2 years and serves multiple entries as long as it is valid. The authorization number online is electronically linked to the passport and it is necessary to print to show it when arriving in New Zealand.



– The cost is 9 NZD through an app or 12 NZD through the special website. To see the approximate change in your currency, you can use the XE.com. In total it comes with the tax 47 NZD or about 32 USD.

– If you do not want to complicate yourself, you can apply for the eTA to New Zealand with ivisa and its easy form here and within 30 minutes.

– For aircraft and ship crews regardless of their nationality they will have to apply for a special permit called CREW eTA that will be valid for 5 years.


 On the iVisa website. This is the easiest way I found and is used by more readers every month. I also use it for the different visas they offer around the world. – On the website of the New Zealand government. You do it on your own by following the instructions all in English. If you do something wrong or forget to attach a document, you will not have a second chance and you will have to pay everything for a new application according to the terms and conditions. I have read in forums and many travelers have problems and inconveniences with the government site, so I suggest using iVisa.

As you can see, there is currently only one governmental way to manage the eTA to New Zealand, and it is through the official website that the government has made available to travelers. In addition to this medium, there is the iVisa website that help you to easily manage your visa in easy steps.


Travelers who do not required a visa to enter New Zealand, such as United States nationals, will require this electronic form of authorization which is provided in PDF form. The passport will not present a visible label as this eTA visa waiver will be generated online on a website. The electronic authority will then be submitted to the applicant’s inbox via email.

By gathering and screening applicants’ essential information, this new facilitation measure will significantly accelerate the border clearance process and enhance security. All data on the prospective traveler can be verified against security databases before the individual even arrives at New Zealand’s borders.



new zealand eta The United States was among the first of many countries globally who have, or are now, implementing similar steps to simplify the travel application process and strengthen their borders. The United States’ Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is a visa waiver system for travelers visiting the United States either by sea or air for tourism, transit or business visits under 90 days. Application is made online before embarking on travels to the United States, and the electronic authorization is valid for two years.

Travelers in possession of Australia’s Electronic Travel Authority are permitted to stay for up to 90 days for tourism or business purposes.

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) is due to come into play in 2021. Visitors to the Schengen area will need this travel authorization, which will be valid for 3 years or until the passport expiration date, whichever comes first, prior to embarking on their trip. Visitors will then be permitted to stay for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period.


A physical entry into the passport will be done away with, and the electronic authorization system will confirm the successful application by way of a verification email. Approval should take only a matter of minutes but may take up to 72 hours.

eta new zealand Applications should therefore be made well in advance of the intended travel date. Applicants may register for the eTA at check in, although this is not recommended as boarding will not be permitted in the event of declined applications or those not processed in time.
